February 25 – CABIN FEVER FILM SERIES: “Go Tell the Spartans”
Based on the 1967 novel Incident at Muc Wa by Daniel Ford, this 1978 HBO production stars Burt Lancaster as a career army officer serving as an advisor within the Military Assistance Command in Vietnam (114 minutes R rating for strong language) Donation requested – 2:00 p.m.

November 10 – KIDS DAY: Dress Up and Discover!! – Kids of all ages get to try on the field gear and head gear from the museum education collection. Have your parents bring their cameras, cell phones and IPods as you pose at one of three backdrops in the museum theatre. Visit the education stations in the galleries for more fun discoveries throughout the day. 10:00 am to 3:00 pm. Ages 03 to 13 get in for 1/2 price admission. A donation is requested for the Dress-Up station. Parents need to remain on-site.

Bicycle Dreams, the award-winning feature-length documentary about the Race Across America (RAAM), will premiere in State College at The State Theatre. The screening is sponsored to benefit all cyclists in the Centre Region.

The Race Across America is an epic, 3000-mile bicycle race from the Pacific to the Atlantic. First held in 1982, RAAM is considered the most challenging sporting event in the world. Top riders finish in under 10 days, riding over 300 miles per day and sleeping only a few hours per night. Amid the sleepless grind, riders must endure the searing heat of the Mojave Desert, the agonizing climbs and descents of the Rockies, the driving winds of the Great Plains, and the twisting switchbacks of the Appalachians before the final sprint to the finish line in Atlantic City. With little prize money at stake, the fundamental goal of the race is simply to finish, a challenge half of all riders fail to meet.
Bicycle Dreams has won major awards at the Fallbrook and Breckenridge film festivals, as well as the Yosemite, Grand Rapids, Red Rock and All Sports LA film festivals, among many others.
Most recently the film added the Best Foreign Film trophy from the Krasnogorski International Festival of Sports Films in Moscow and was also invited to be included in the 2011 World Cinema Showcase in New Zealand as well as the Mountain Film Festival in Istanbul, Turkey. And before that it made its Australian debut at the Big Pond Film Festival in Adelaide.
Bicycle Dreams also has been named one of the top 10 adventure films of all time by both The Matador Network and Playground Magazine, calling it the best bicycle film since “Breaking Away.”

Recent events have brought to light a problem that is pervasive in all communities, 1 in 4 girls and 1 in 6 boys will be sexually abused by his or her 18th birthday. The Centre County Women’s Resource Center and The State Theatre invite our community to come together for a screening and discussion of the documentary, In A Town This Size.

Stories are told through poignant first-person interviews with the victims, their families and professionals, this film brings to viewers an unnerving familiarity with the lifelong harm of childhood sexual abuse.
